Bet-at-Home.com has had its operating license suspended with immediate effect by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission, it was announced by the authority today.
The suspension of the Malta-based sportsbook will in effect while the UKGC carries out a review of the group under section 116 of the UK Gambling Act.
“The review and consequent suspension follow concerns that activities may have been carried out contrary to the Act, not in accordance with conditions of their license and that the Licensee may be unsuitable to carry on the licensed activities,” said the UKGC in its official announcement. “Suspected social responsibility and anti-money laundering failings were key considerations in the suspension decision.”
The authority went on to say that it has made it clear to Bet-at-home that during the course of the suspension period, it is expected that the company focuses on treating consumers fairly and keeping them informed on any developments which may impact them.
Bet-at-home customers are still allowed to access their accounts and withdraw any outstanding funds.
In May this year, Bet-at-home reported that its revenue had dropped over 50% in the first quarter of 2022. It cited regulatory problems which it had experienced in other European countries such as Austria and Germany.
