It was just a warm-up match ahead of next week’s Confederation Cup where Brazil successfully defeated its rival France with a 3-0 margin – something it always wanted since 1992. Notably, Brazil has not beaten France in any international match since a friendly success twenty one years ago. Both these teams have since met six times: two of them ended in a draw while French side taken the lead in four of them and who can forget the 1998 world cup final along with 2006 quarterfinal defeat? France captain Karim Benzema has not done anything interesting this year losing three out of four played matches; perhaps France is on second place to Spain in its world cup qualifying group. Looking at the winning margin, it looks like it would have been a one sided affair, but on the contrary, France was dominating right from the beginning; perhaps it was the second half when Chelsea playmaker Oscar opened the score tally for Brazil from a close range shot. Around 30 minutes later, another Brazilian Hernanes added one more goal to the scorecard and PSG’s Lucas made it sure that French side will have to taste the defeat. Brazil has ever been a close competitor for every other team, yet it lacks considerable number of wins against top contenders, like they have not beaten any world cup champion since 2009, and the team that defeated Argentinian in 2011, was using mostly club level players.
Out of the three goals, Oscar’s goal was assisted by Fred who had the possession of the ball in midfield area. While running towards left side, he sharply passed the ball to Oscar who easily capitalized the opportunity and fired the opening goal. Similarly, Hernanes goal was also a brilliant show coz he fired the goal using his left foot that hit the post before going in. The newly appointed national coach, Scolari, who has also served in the same role back in 2002, has shown a visible change in team spirit, coz the same team had won only one game out six played before his joining, and after his arrival; they successfully managed to draw games against Italy, Russia and Chile.
It was a perfect weekend for more than 50000 fans who were inside the ground and cheering both the teams. Looking at the whole game, it is rather difficult to say who performed well throughout the match, but result wise Brazil recorded a convincing win against one of the top contenders for upcoming world cup title.
