Brazil gains on FIFA rankings after Confederation win

July 5, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

Brazil is the hailing ruler of soccer these days by making an impressive progress everywhere. After winning Confederation cup, especially five consecutive games in the world event, it has gained thirteen places on FIFA’s just released rankings. The ranking are based on team’s performance in the last month and some of the significant gainers in them are US, who won perfect four matches in the month of June; similarly, England is now out of top 10 best teams in the world after miserable performance in both world cup qualifiers and confederation Cup; perhaps they are out of top 10 for the first time since 2008 when they failed in Euro qualification campaign. Despite losing in the confederation cup final, Spain is still on the top followed by Germany. Third place is taken over by first timer Colombia who has achieved its highest position till date while third and four confederation cup finishers Italy and Uruguay are on six and twelve spots respectively. Argentina and Netherland are securely placed on No. 4 and No. 5. Belgium is the new entrant to the top ten by reaching onto the tenth place from twelfth one. Scotland is only the second team after Senegal to make a jump of twenty four places to reach to the fiftieth place while other noteworthy gainers are twenty five positions gainer Senegal, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ivory Coast and Greece.

Out of all the teams placed in the top ten, Italy, Spain, and Uruguay played a maximum number of seven matches in given period while Brazil is the highest gainer as far points spread is concerned – it gained 223 points to its last tally. There were 134 matches played in the given period including 16 Confederations Cup, 89 World Cup qualifiers, and 29 friendlies which is a significant number thanks to world cup warm up event just concluded in the world cup host country. As far biggest loser is concerned, Central African Republic loses a maximum of 145 points along with thirty ranks in the latest rankings.

Woman teams’ world rankings are also interesting where England has shown its rein by moving to seventh place from eight and Scotland also made a jump of two places to reach to the twenty-first position.

Here is the list of top twenty men FIFA teams along with their last positions:
