While 2018 World Cup, which is going to be hosted by Russia, is creating milestones one after another, Brazil is also not keeping itself behind of anyone else. While Russia is investing billions in reconstructing its stadiums, Brazil is all set to deploy one of the biggest task forces to ensure no ferocity could happen in the field. Actually, crime is on the rise in Brazil recently; hence to counter rising cases of crime and criminality, Brazil has set aside a record amount towards world cup security, perhaps the amount is so mammoth that it has created a buzz in soccer fraternity, and everybody is taking about how Brazil can afford to spend so much of money on soccer world cup. Actually, Brazilian Government is equally contributing to bear the mounting security budget and making it ensured that coming mega event will be the most protected global event ever. The ratio of security personnel, as claimed by the authorities, is one police officer per 50 stadium viewers, and one police officer per 80 viewers on any other place than ground.
Informing about government’s security measures, sports minister Aldo Rebelo said, “The Government has made a programme to compile the measures needed for everyone’s security. This is an item that we face with much importance.” If we compare the security arrangements being done by Brazil than what they were in last world cup in South Africa, African Government spend €560 million and deployed 31000 police officers which come to one security personal per 100 spectators out of €1.1 billion total security budget. So, this time both the amount and ratio of security personnel is doubled than last world cup, hence it is not wrong to say that coming world cup would be the biggest sporting event of all time.
Basically, it was the FIFA who forced Brazilian FA to stringent their security measures in light of rising violence cases in Sao Paulo, and coz of this violence, world cup infrastructure work was also behind the schedule; hence Brazilian government took the initiative and decided to host the mega event in most secured way. A tight security could bring problems to many fans visiting to the region only for the world cup, but it is the only way Brazil can ensure a safest soccer entertainment. Moreover, rising cases of violence in a soccer game is known to everyone; hence extra security will provide an additional layer of protection too.
