Brek Shea to miss the field for three months after foot surgery
US and FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea will miss the field for at least three months after his foot surgery. His right foot surgery completed successfully on Thursday where a sesamoid bone has been removed from his right foot. Since, it was a major surgery; it would require at least 12 to 14 weeks or three months to recover fully. Next three months mean; he would be out for current season, but good news is that he will be available for US national team before the next year’s session. The 22 years old starlet has as many as 15 US international caps along with 21 club caps. Moreover, he has fired three goals and assisted two others in his 21 club games while last year; he had 11 goals to his name. Protest over Renovation of Maracana Stadium
While Brazilian FA is busy in preparing stadiums for coming FIFA world cup, there are other problems coming by in this process. As told earlier, FIFA has asked Brazilian FA to ready at least six stadiums by March 2013, coz at the moment; there is only one stadium which can be treated as complete. Among others, Maracana Stadium is one which needs thorough renovation work and this process can take much more time than expected coz of extensive protest from a nearby school’s students and a museum’s lovers. NBC is expected to get EPL’s broadcasting rights in US
EPL is surely the world’s most popular soccer league, and that’s why there are many front runners for its television broadcasting rights too. In US, EPL has been broadcasted by Fox and ESPN for almost two decades, but this year their combined bid has been rejected by EPL, so US viewers are all set to watch their favorite teams fighting on a new channel – probably NBC. The current broadcasting deal is to be expired this season, and for next season, EPL is inviting offers from various contenders for a new deal that would be for three years. Three Guatemala Players are banned for Life for Match Fixing by FIFA
Match fixing is the next big thing happening in the soccer world today, and its latest sufferers are three Guatemala players who are banned by FIFA for life on match fixing charges. The players include Guillermo Ramírez , Yony Flores, Gustavo Adolfo Cabrera. Notably, these players were already banned by National Football Federation of Guatemala last month. The decision for their life suspension is taken based on the three matches that are suspected to be fixed by these players: one was CONCACAF League fixture between Santos Laguna and Guatemalan club which Santos won by score 6-1 margin in 2010 and other two matches were friendly clashes against Costa Rica and Venezuela in May and June this year.
