Once EPL season starts, every club tries to keep itself busy and in the headlines for one reason or another. Southampton, a south coast based club, has won its opener in the current season defeating West Brom by a late penalty goal, and now they are again strengthening their army by enforcing more meat into it. Reportedly, St Mary based club has signed Roma forward Pablo Osvaldo on a four year deal. The deal is said to be taken place on Sunday though it was in discussion for quite some time now. Osvaldo actually has been one of the key targets of many league clubs off late including Manchester City and Tottenham, but deal was finally cracked by Southampton at a repotted figure of 15.1 million euros with a clause to rise by 2 million euros if player performs well. Liverpool secures first opener win since 2001
EPL new season is truly plating what everyone expected from it. First few matches of the new season proved that this is going to be the more exciting league season than what we have seen in recent times. In a nail biting finish, Liverpool defeated Stoke by just one goal and secured their first opener win in last twelve years. The match is more remembered for brilliant performance of Liverpool’s goalie Simon Mignolet who saved Jon Walters’ penalty shot excellently in the last few minutes of the game. Forward Simon Mignolet scored the only goal of the game in thirty seventh minute; this lead could have been much more had Liverpool capitalized several opportunities obliged by Stoke during the game. Moyes clinches first season win for United
So, EPL 2013-14 season has begun and everyone starts taking notes on the preliminary matches of some of the league baggies, and defending champion Manchester United is on top of the list. United registered a first win of the season with rather a comfortable margin against an underdog of last season Swansea City. The match was more on the media coverage for its new manager Moyes who recently took over Alex Ferguson’s 26-year-old legacy and became the boss of The Red. Among the few match highlights, Rooney’s presence, though for only thirty minutes, made fans cheery and they applauded him open heartedly. First half hour of the match was calm but next ten minutes made Swans out of the game when Van Persie and Welbeck scored two fine goals in 34th and 36th minutes and in the second half both these players stroked back and fired two more goals taking United lead to 4-1. Villas-Boas is confident to keep hold over Bale
EPL 2013-14 is around the corner, and every club is trying hard to keep a hold on its key players, especially those ones who have recently been linked with other clubs. Marouane Fellaini not leaving Everton as his release clause expired
Marouane Fellaini has been an ambitious midfielder for many clubs last season coz of his steady performance in the league matches, but surprisingly, there is no taker for the midfielder and his release clause expired without any bid. Notably, there was a clause in his contract which ensures he can make a shift if any club offers more than £22 million for the Belgian footballer, and its expiry made Everton happier coz they were expecting someone will come forward and trigger his transfer deal.
