It seems Tottenham Hotspur's Gareth Bale is ruling the award ceremonies these days that is why he added another award to his recently won two PFA awards. He is now chosen for the prestigious Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year award for current season for his brilliant performance throughout the season that includes 24 goals in total, including 19 EPL goals out of 29 played games. Over 53% of the total voting was cast in Bale’s favor while last year’s winner Manchester United's Robin van Persie ended on the second place along with Chelsea's Juan Mata. Record wise, he is the first Welshman to win this award after goalkeeper Neville Southall who won this award back in 1985. PFA faces the heat on Suarez issue
Uruguayan footballer Luis Suarez is in the news these days for his noble act of shame when he bit Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic at Anfield. Though, he got a ten matches’ ban for his shameful act on the field, yet fans are not willing to spare him in any way. Player of the year awards were honored last night at the Grosvenor Hotel in Mayfair, central London. During the ceremony, Suarez name was hooted not once but twice and this incident captured media attention more than who won what. PFA actually included his name in the EPL team of the year, and for that reason, PFA was widely criticized when it refused to minus his name. Gareth Bale wins both PFA Player of Year and Young Player of the year awards
Tottenham forward Gareth Bale became only the third player to win player of the year award in both categories in the same year. He won both PFA and young PFA in the ceremony concluded in London last night. Earlier, Andy Gray and Cristiano Ronaldo were the only players to take two titles in the same year, and now Bale has added his name into this list. In the main award category, he defeated Liverpool's Luis Suarez and Robin van Persie of Manchester United among others while in young category Bale defeated Hazard, Aston Villa's Christian Benteke, West Brom striker Romelu Lukaku, Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, and Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck.
