There is no doubt with the fact that Manchester United has performed brilliantly this season and that is why they have been on the top of the leaderboard most of the time this season. Now, when EPL is reaching its conclusion, ManU is still enjoying its supremacy over other teams with a comfortable lead from its closest club and arch rival Manchester City who is almost 15 points away to replace United on the top. Yesterday, United won another match to enhance its lead when they defeated Stroke with 2-0, and more importantly, it was Robin van Persie who ended his drought by finding the net at last. Actually, Netherlands striker could not score even a single goal in his last ten matches, but Sunday was his day and he perfectly capitalized his 66th minute penalty and fired a goal. – his 20th in the league. Another reason for joy for United is the fact that they are the closest to clinch the title from their arch rival City, perhaps they only need seven more points to take the title home … [Read more...]
Now Newcastle Fans retaliated with violence after defeat
In less than 24 hours, English shows another example of how short tempered their fans can be when it comes to accepting a defeat. Yesterday, Millwall fans displayed their aggression on the ground after being defeated by Wigan at Wembley, today, it was the turn of Newcastle fans to show how desperate they were to win a game that was eventually won by Sunderland with a comprehensive 3-0 margin. The defeat brought Newcastle into the relegation cap at EPL while Sunderland’s first triumph in thirteen years at St James' Park gave them a chance to survive at the league. The victory is more a result of hard work done by manager Paolo Di Canio who revived the team to show what they can actually achieve. Now, Sunderland has a clear three points lead from relegation cap and they have five more matches to go, so they are likely to end this season with a better position in the leaderboard. After the match, Newcastle shows their disbelief about their fans behavior which resulted in a massive … [Read more...]
Wigan Enters into FA cup final amid stadium violence
Wigan Athletic Football Club made a history in itself by entering into the FA cup final for the first time in their cup history of 81 years by defeating Championship side Millwall at Wembley. The victory is even special for them looking at the 2-0 margin they managed to lead with. Wigan was very much in control during the whole game and scored one goal before and after the lunch session taking their team to a historic final. First goal was fired by Maloney at 25th minute while second one was netted by McManaman at 78th minute. It was rather a bad day for Millwall coz they could never match the speed and stamina shown by Wigan’s men. However, the match is also remembered for crowd violence during the last moments of the match by Millwall fans which became uncontrollable by security personnel. Many fans were shown fighting with each other including crying pictures of a girl who was pleading for everyone to stop. However, many fans were also trying to stop all the nonsense happening on … [Read more...]
Zinedine Zidane buys a major stake in a local French Football Club
How Zinedine Zidane, who has been a known French international player during his regime, treats his wife is again proven when he took a major stake in a local French club his wife is interested in. Notably, the club he just bought exclusively for his wife is not a big club nor it has any big soccer name, and furthermore the club was almost reaching its liquidation, so is a major investment out of personal money worthy on such a club? Yes, if your wife wants it, this is what Zidane thinks about his new purchase. Now, when men treat their wife / girlfriend as worthy only for chocolates and pastries, he has set an example whereby he can do both: serve his favorite game and cool his wife. However, it is not confirmed as of now that whether he will be a part of club’s day to day activities or he will just be the think tank behind club’s major decisions, but anyway, it is a great attempt to cherish his association with soccer by buying a club which was almost dying. Zidane, now 40, … [Read more...]
Alex Ferguson is again in clash with Mancini
In less than twenty four hours, United’s manager Ferguson is again found combating with a known soccer personality. This time the heat is fueled by City boss Roberto Mancini who recently said that other teams are not able to defeat United not because they are better, but since other teams play with a fear of facing United’s army in the field. His comments are again rubbished by Ferguson saying it is a bit of self-sympathy by City manager; perhaps he called it a nonsense reaction for not being on the top. He also gave an example of 1996 when no team could try as hard as United did to beat then title rivals Newcastle. Though, he also agrees on the fact that some matches he saw were not as trying by the opponents as they should be, so he calls it lack of a will rather a fear of facing United. Earlier, Mancini said before Monday’s clash that “No one player plays very well against United because they play with fear. “Because United have an importance as a team and a club, every team that … [Read more...]
