What could be the dream end to Champions league this season? It would be if Messi and Rolando play against each other in the finals. Even destiny is in its favor that is why both these teams are kept apart from facing each other in the semis itself. Bayern will play with Barcelona in the first semi while Dortmund will clash with Ronaldo’s men in the second semifinal of the series. In fact, this would not be the first time when Ronaldo and Messi will be in front of each other in the Champions league’s final, coz Ronaldo was in the United’s team when they met with Barcelona and Messi back in 2009 Champions league final, but he was rather unknown that time. Now, things have changed completely, Ronaldo has transformed into what he is today and so is the Messi, so it is perhaps the greatest entertainment package for fans across the world if these two contemporary starlets face each other in the mega finals at Wembley. Out of the four semifinalists, both Real and Barca are attacking … [Read more...]
Messi presence helps Barca to advance to Champions League semi-finals
Messi – the name is enough. Against all the expectations, star Argentinian took part in the clash between Barcelona and PSG, though as a substitute, and helped his club end in a draw. Actually, the worth of Messi can easily be understood with the fact that he did not fire any goal nor hit any shot to the post yet only his presence was more than anything else on the field. His tons of fans were waiting for their star throughout the game, and in 61st minute, they could finally see him entering into the ground as substitute. Before match, there were no indications about his participation in this match hence everyone was a bit of skeptical whether they would be able to see him or not. Moreover, when he did not join the morning warm up, it was pretty sure that he would not be a member of the team for this match – at least, but he again surprised everyone by being a part of this game. PSG had an edge during the game; perhaps they took the initial lead as well and it was then feared that … [Read more...]
Reading Pay homage to Hillsborough victims
It has been 24 years passed by when Hillsborough Stadium witnessed one of the worst stadium disasters in soccer history during a match between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool which was the semifinal of FA cup. There was a massive crush among spectators resulting in as many as 96 deaths and 766 injured. That incident is still the darkest day in British history; perhaps it was the wickedest display of police control that resulted in a massive disaster. Today is the 24th anniversary of that incident hence Reading paid homage to all the victims via a one minute silence during its EPL match against Liverpool who was also the team playing on that day. Reading has taken prior permission to hold such homage during a match; hence it was more a respect to all the innocent victims who were there to enjoy a soccer match but ended their lives all of a sudden. Reading issued a statement via its website that mentioned, “Supporters of Reading Football Club and Liverpool Football Club will hold a … [Read more...]
Barca to Play PSG, suspense over Messi
It is yet not cleared whether Messi will be a part of Barcelona for the coming showdown against Becks’ PSG ahead of its second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals on Wednesday. Messi has already missed Saturday’s Spanish league match against Mallorca due to a hamstring he got during 2-2- draw last week. Earlier, he was expected to recover by Wednesday, but there is no clear news from either Barca or Messi about whether he would be a part of the team or not. Notably, Barca won Saturday match with a crushing 5-0 margin without Messi; hence there is no point in assuming they can’t perform without Argentinian. Though, he participated in the training on Sunday in front of bunch of media personnel and even on Monday he was active in training sessions, yet Camp Nou club has kept his cards hidden until final match moments come in. If Messi does not play this match, Coach Tito Vilanova would surely like to repeat his squad that crushed Mallorca on Saturday; hence Fabregas is more likely … [Read more...]
Premier league clubs to adopt Goal Line technology
When FIFA finalized a German firm’s GoalControl technology as the final one to be used in coming Confederation Cup last week, counting started for its use in the English Premier League as well. To discuss its practicality, EPL clubs have now decided to hold a meet this week to decide the use this revolutionizing technology add-on to soccer, particularly in the EPL. Since it would be a mega deal to sign up with a GLT provider, English FA has decided to run a joint tendering process in association with EPL clubs to find the ultimate provider whose technology would finally be installed across all 21 stadiums: 20 EPL sites and one Wembley. Being an oversized buyer, they are expected to secure a better deal price for their mega size demand which would surely be followed by more orders from other league clubs in the world, since if a technology works in the EPL, it would surely attract world’s attentions as far its dynamic uses are concerned. FA general secretary Alex Horne told about their … [Read more...]
