American soccer player Landon Donovan, who also plays for American Los Angeles Galaxy club, is thinking about his retirement citing his prolonged distance from his family. Thirty year old American attacking midfielder is even thinking of taking a world tour to divert his mind from all soccer glitches. Meantime, he also hinted he may or may not participate in world cup 2014 also. His impressive two loan spells for Everton made him a front runner for a probable deal with Everton, but his surprise decision took everyone in a shock. At the moment, he is thinking about some time off the field whereby he could devote some quality time with his family and friends that may include a world tour too. He gave an interview to ESPN and told, “Right now, I need time to think and that is impossible to achieve while I am playing, I need to determine if I want to play, and if the answer is yes, I need to work out where and for how long.” Telling about his wishes to cover some long distance tours, he … [Read more...]
Black Footballers’ Association is on the cart
After some recent high profile racial abuse cases and their aftermaths, there is another story in the making, and that’s some players are planning to form a new Black footballers' association to combat rising racial abuse cases in soccer field. Peter Herbert, a senior lawyer, hinted that many players from different regions/clubs have raised their voices for such an association, though; it is only in its preliminary stage at the moment. After some players decided not to participate in Kick is out anti racial campaign, the speculations of a new blacks’ governing body’s formation were on the cart, and finally, it has come to everyone’s notice. The initially proposed title of this body would be Black Footballers’ Association whose primary objective would be to tackle racism more vigorously. Herbert says, “I think there comes a point in any community's life or experience where enough is enough, people appear to have decided they have to do something more vigorously.” There is an another … [Read more...]
Goal-line Technology Gets FIFA Approval
Technology comes closer to soccer with FIFA’s approval to use goal line technology in soccer games. Goal line technology enables technological assistance in finding if a doubtful goal is actually a legal goal or not. At the moment, there are two solution providers of this goal line technology: one is Hawkeye and other is GoalRef, and both of them have got FIFA’s approval at the moment. FIFA’s approval means these two systems can now be implanted in any league or competition provided both these systems do pass a final inspection test before their use. Predictably, FIFA club world cup, to be held in December, will be the first event to have this technology usage. A FIFA spokesman said on the occasion, “This milestone means that the companies now have authorisation to install their technology systems worldwide" said a Fifa spokesman.” Notably, international football association board (IFAB) has already added this technology into soccer’s rule book in July this year. How these … [Read more...]

Ferdinand refused to wear anti-racism T-shirt
Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand, who had been a victim of racial abuses by English Captain John Terry last year, has now refused to join the Kick It Out campaign by not wearing T-shirt along with two of his QPR team-mates. His racial abuse case against Terry concluded just in last week and where he has been imposed with a £220,000 fine and a four matches’ suspension. His decision to boycott wearing the t shirts came within 24 hours of Rio Ferdinand’s, his brother, decision to boycott the support of Kick It Out anti racial campaign here at Loftus Road. During Kick It Out campaign, all premier league players are asked to wear a t-shirt bearing an anti-racial massage: “one game, one community” during each of their pre-game training session to withdraw the attention towards the biggest evil of soccer. Moreover, according to Rio and his brother, Ferdinand’s racial abuser Terry should have been punished little more harshly rather imposing a moderate fine, and that’s why they are … [Read more...]
