The job of top mentors of every English club has always been on stake and that is why we often see how manager/head coaches are fired overnight when they fail to perform as expected in English or European leagues. Though, remedial action is fast and stiff in England but it is generally linked with performance in EPL and rarely on the basis of UEFA tourney. For this reason, Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini looks cool and clam despite struggling to make it to the next stage in championship league trophy. Their next away game with Roma is going to be a do or die affair for their survival on European campaign and some media channels recently start flashing that Chilean could be axed should City fail to enter into last sixteen. Nullifying these reports and talking about the chances for their last sixteenth birth, Pellegrini gave example of last season when he took them through second stage and asks fans not worry about their show in the final game as they would surely triumph with … [Read more...]
Wenger asks fans to have patience until the end to judge their performance
Every team passes through several ups and downs within a season hence it is generally not expected from fans that they will decide the fate of their team in the middle itself, and if we are talking about Arsenal, such an expectation becomes hypothetical since English premier league often changes its toppers in the second half. Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger has also asked club fans to have patience and wait until the end of the season to know how they performed in the English as well European seasons and request them not to be misled by negative stories about their game, players, and leadership running across some media channels. This is actually nothing new in England where media usually runs the entire league vibes and provokes fans to change their perception about any side; cases of racial abuses or violence is the perfect example where many times media shows only one side of the story ignoring other aspects which could as well be important. They lost to Stoke City last week and … [Read more...]
Messi scores his 21st hat trick; Luis Enrique applauds
When star players are compared with each other, experts talk about each of their achievements and hat-tricks have ever been the dream for any player and an important yardstick during any such assessment, especially if they are playing for sides like Manchester City or, of course, Barcelona. And, if we are talking about players like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, a serious evaluation is obvious but this time Messi scores an edge over his rivals after his twenty first career hat-trick against Espanyol on Sunday. Looking at the 5-1 final score, no one would believe that once visitors were leading with first goal of the game and it was the time when Barca fans were stunned to see how they can lose a game on home turf, but their star forward did not led them down and scored back to back goals to edge his side by three important goals. Apart from Argentine, Gerard Pique and substitute Pedro Rodriguez were other two who scored for the Spanish giant thinning their point difference from … [Read more...]
Roberto Martinez refuses to have received any offer from Manchester City for Ross Barkley
Young players with exceptional skills to learn have always been in demand, in fact, whenever any such player comes into the news, several big sides often try to knot him for a long term. This is also a good approach for the player himself as this way he gets the opportunity to improve himself as a player and as a competitor to rule the field anywhere in the world. Everton’s 21-year-old midfielder Ross Barkley is one such player who got into the news for an apparent interest by the league giant Manchester City last month but nothing could materialize on paper and he continued playing for the The Dogs of War despite several hints from the Manchester side that they can grow him better than anyone else. Behind the close doors, many were thinking something materialist would be in discussion but now Everton boss Roberto Martinez has denied off any offer from The Red Devils for one of the brightest talents England could ever have. Many also doubt the sixty million pounds price tag which looks … [Read more...]
Anfield redevelopment plans get a green signal from City Council
Liverpool’s home ground Anfield can now start giving a new look to its Main Stand by adding some 5800 new seats as consultation period to submit any objection has expired without any reasonable complaint. Liverpool City Council approved the project back in September but due to legal complications work could not start before offering a reasonable time to object the new initiative from anyone but now when no justified objection is received, club can go ahead with its optimistic plan. Significantly, games would continue playing on the venue during the rebuilding period hence Anfield would not lose revenue for the construction. Moreover, if everything goes well, Anfield Road End is also planned to be expend by adding 4800 seats but it would begin only after completion of main stand work which would expectedly take around 2-3 years. If we look at the expected cost for the whole project and who will finance it, 260 million pounds are initially planned for the whole work which would be shared … [Read more...]
