While Manchester United is gearing up to face the Blues this Sunday, manager Louis van Gaal is facing another problem regarding whom he should place in the forward line since most of the key strikers are either injured or facing suspensions. Columbian forward Radamel Falcao, who has been impressive in the just concluded Brazil world cup, was supposed to be the biggest asset for the Dutchman, but after his knee problem, world cup star had to be sidelined for few matches. Even in the training session yesterday, he injured himself again and now doubtful to play in the weekend’s showdown. It is like rubbing salt over wounds for the manager since skipper Rooney is also not available for his three matches’ suspension. Anyways, Gaal has until not refused completely that Falcao will not play in the next game, however, what he expressed in his media statement is that he has less strength in the forward line without Columbian and other in-form players. Notably, in case, Falcao does not play in … [Read more...]
Michael Carrick hoping to comeback in Chelsea’s showdown this Sunday
Upcoming league clash between Manchester United and Chelsea is, of course, amongst the most awaiting showdowns of the season and its beauty further enhanced with United’s long time absentee Michael Carrick’s availability. Manager Gaal has recently showed his grief over injuries to some of his key players ahead of upcoming games and after Carrick’s recovery off his ankle surgery gave him a hope to defeat the league leaders. Actually, 33-year-old midfielder was missing the field since last July when he damaged his ligament on the day Dutchman joined the side. However, he played in the Monday game but was more a spectator than the player and upcoming game could be his first after months break. This is also noticeable that his space is not secure as off yet coz former Barcelona manager has already hired Daley Blind to substitute Carrick in the midfield area and former Ajax player also made significant contribution to his side. Those who are following The Red Devils know that this is a … [Read more...]
Manchester City asks for closed-door sanctions rethink
Fans behavior has ever been one of the biggest headaches for organizers especially if a match is being played between two big teams and visitors are about to defeat the hosts. Normally, it starts when hosts are trailing in the game and home fans start misbehaving the away fans, team, and even racial remarks happen over the players causing hosts’ defeat. Generally, governing bodies sanction home team to play next game in empty stadium as a punishment but remember match is played between two teams and this kind of sanction often becomes a forced punishment against the other team as well. Demand has long been made to find a solution to this problem where second team needs not to suffer on such sanctions and Tuesday’s Championship league clash between CSKA Moscow and Manchester City was one such game where CSKA had earlier been ordered to play the game in an emptied stadium. Since, City was not involved in any misconduct; they obviously raised the voice in front of the UEFA not to violate … [Read more...]
Neymar cools down rumors about his growing tension with Messi
No matter where you play if you are one of the high profile players in any team each of your entry and exit from the side is scanned with suspected eyes, in fact, media geeks always look for anything secret about your absence from the game. This is something that seems to be happening with Barcelona ever since they hired the young Brazilian Neymar. There have been cases when media tried to create a war among them but both these pros always played down reports of any difference among them and this time too Neymar refuses to weigh his swap reports from the last game with Eibar. Actually what happened is Barca was already leading by three goals in that game then manager Luis Enrique apparently decided to rest his star Messi for the next two games against Ajax and, of course, Real Madrid this week but when Messi refused to leave the pitch Spaniard rested Brazilian instead of Argentinean. Within few hours, this news spread like a wild fire and almost every sports media captioned it as the … [Read more...]
Chelsea finds new confidence after winning without Diego Costa
Chelsea show in this league season has been impressive right from the day one. Initially, it used to be believed that few concentric players are the backbone of this side and Diego Costa was one of them. In fact, manager Jose Mourinho had said over several occasions that Spanish forward is the integral part of his army and they rely heavily over him. But, team proved their manager’s assumption wrong when they won the last game against Crystal Palace by 2-1 without having Costa in the side. Notably, former Manchester United player is in brilliant form this season and already registered nine goals to his name in first seven played games for the new side. Indeed, it was him who played an important role in an unprecedented start by the Blues this season and made them unbeatable after eight games in the English topflight. This form can also bring good news for both club bosses and Mourinho as he looks forward for the higher position in Championship league as well. Despite missing Costa for … [Read more...]
