Canada Soccer has filed a written complaint with FIFA over the abuse hurled out at goalkeeper Milan Borjan when Canada played Croatia. Canada ended up losing 1-4 against Croatia which also sealed their fate and stop them from heading to the round of 16. Milan Borjan Faces Abuse From Croatian Fans Milan Borjan who has played 71 times for Canada migrated to Canada from Serbia in 1995 when he was 15 years old. His family migrated during the time when Croatia invaded Serbia and many Serbs fled out on tractors. Croatia fans who know their history brought in a flag of US tractor manufacturer John Deere, changed the marketing slogan on the flag and targeted Milan Borjan. The abuse got worse during the second-half of the game when Milan Borjan was tending goal directly behind these fans. MLB Agrees to Settle Class Action Suit with Minor League Players for $185 Million
Major League Baseball (MLB) has agreed to enter into a $185 million settlement with minor league players who had accused the league of violating federal laws on minimum wage and overtime pay. Around $120 million of the agreed amount will go to thousands of minor leaguers, while the rest accounted for legal fees. Minor Leaguers to Receive Compensation for Spring Training Under the terms of the settlement, minor leaguers will now be paid by their respective teams when they take part in spring training, extended spring training, and instructional leagues in Arizona and Florida, which were previously considered by the MLB as "seasonal" work. The class action lawsuit was filed in February 2014 by 43 retired minor league players, including Aaron Senne of the Miami Marlins. In a first for the most popular sports league in the US, it was reported that the National Football League (NFL) has hired a sports betting executive. David Highhill has been given the title of vice president and general manager of sports betting. He has been tasked with advancing the NFL’s brand and reputation, supporting fan engagement, improving the league’s data and intellectual property value, and reducing the effects of gambling-related harm. Highhill is no stranger to the NFL. He led the analytics department before heading to the corporate strategy group. He has worked for over a decade with the NFL. Betfred Sports Plans Maryland Entry Ahead of NFL Season
By the time NFL season rolls around in September this year, Betfred Sports hopes to have launched in Maryland. Bet-at-Home License Suspended Immediately in UK
Bet-at-Home.com has had its operating license suspended with immediate effect by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission, it was announced by the authority today.
