FIFA tightens its belt for WC preparations delay
FIFA, who has been criticized on several occasions by different experts of the business for giving too much leverage to Brazil, has again reiterated that WC organizers need to submit all the pending WC venues before soccer's showcase event kicks off in June 2013. Notably, there are around 12 stadiums that are still behind their schedule despite allowing time extension on more than two occasions, and according to the governing body, they want six of them completed by the end of this year. Belize players revealed of being approached for fixing
Match fixing by organized gangs has become a major threat for soccer’s sovereignty across the world and another example of how these gangs operate is right here. Three Belize national soccer players have disclosed of an advance being made by a man before their CONCACAF Gold Cup group match. Apparently, the man wanted them to fix the match for some monetary benefits and according to Andres Makin Jr., Ian Gaynair, and Woodrow West, who were approached by the unknown man, he first tried to befriend with them and then he started revealing his intentions for the upcoming CONCACAF match. Prosecutor challenges World Cup law in Brazil
Last year, Brazilian Senate passed a special bill named World Cup law and gave a guarantee to world’s governing body for next year’s world cup. Now, a federal prosecutor has confirmed of filing a PIL against the State and said any such law is in clear violation of constitutional guarantee given to every Brazilian. Prosecutor named as Roberto Gurgel has challenged two articles of that law: one it violation Brazilian tax laws by giving a tax free gain to FIFA and second it defies Brazilians right for an equal treatment. Another saying in the challenge is that a large investment being made out of public money which was unnecessary looking at ground reality in the country where millions of citizens are fighting for their day to day necessities, like health, transportation, and public utilities.
