World soccer’s governing body is trying to celebrate hundred years of its prestigious world cup event by recalling its old and charming memories. Everybody knows that first ever world cup was hosted by Uruguay in 1930; perhaps they became the champions by defeating their neighbor Argentina by 4-2 then. Those were the glorious days for Uruguay coz they were also the two-time Olympic champions. Anyways, now FIFA has planned to host 2030 world cup jointly in Argentina and Uruguay; this would perhaps only be the second time when two hosts would organize this global soccer event. Earlier, Japan and South Korea have jointly hosted 2002 world cup. The plan is still on the table but it looks like to be a possibility soon coz no one is expected to make any objection to this highly optimistic way to pay a tribute to soccer’s mega international event. The first ever world cup trophy, old Jules Rimet trophy, is still considered as the most charming beauty in soccer fraternity and its centennial version is going to be a classic masterpiece with a contemporary touch.
How Argentina and Uruguay are excited to celebrate their hundred years is evident with the fact that 2026 world cup venue is still undecided but FIFA wants to declare who will be the 2030 world cup host. Anyways, Russia and Qatar are the confirmed hosts for 2018 and 2022 world cups while governing body will soon ask for the bids for 2026 world cup. Argentinian FA president Julio Grondona said announcing his desire to see centennial world up being organized at its original location that “FIFA wishes to celebrate the World Cup’s 100 years in Argentina and Uruguay, I can confirm that. ‘An agreement’ has been signed by the two associations. What will we do? We’ll see but surely something of quality.”
Actually, this is not an overnight idea born in the city; perhaps the talks regarding such a move were on since 2010 when Uruguay’s Tourism and Sports ministry officially approached to FIFA about their proposal to celebrate WC’s hundred years in style. Moreover, the joint bid also has the backing of many countries including South American governing body CONMEBOL. Actually, FIFA wants to see their hundred years’ celebration in tune with Olympics’ centennial celebrations which were taken place in the US back in 1996. Nobody knows if the mega tribute to soccer becomes one of the biggest all time sporting events.
