Ever since name of Jose Mourinho has been confirmed for the highly pressing Manchester United job, there have been different views about his success leading another premier league giant. While there are few who believe he would never get success even leading ManU, there are some who have strong confidence that Portuguese will bring a noticeable change in the Red Devils fate. The 38-year-old former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher is one such pundit of the game who has different views on the sides who will be successful in the next English season. He believes since both Chelsea and Liverpool will not be playing in the Champions League they can better use their resources and concentrate on just one sporting event. This is a fact that this season has not been a memorable one for both premier league sides, hence they will try to recoup their lost pride in 2016-17 season for their limited exposure in top European leagues and as far Liverpool is concerned, they are having even better chances to succeed since new manager has shown his strength leading a highly demotivated side this year.
Talking about the schedule both Chelsea and Liverpool will be following next summer and if it is in their advantage in anyway, Carragher said in his recent interview, “A big thing for Chelsea and Liverpool, an advantage for them, is no European football. It might be a bit much for Liverpool going for the title, but they will certainly be looking at the top four. Chelsea always have their sights on the title and it depends on who comes in. But it will be a big advantage for Chelsea and Liverpool having no European football.
Adding about the role Klopp played in Liverpool descent show in the last English season where he almost revived a completely lost side, Carragher furthered, “We have seen the impact he has brought to the club, two cup finals in his first season after less than a year there — and that is with Brendan Rodgers’ team. I’m sure there are things he wants to change and the great thing about coming in mid-season as a manager is it gives you that time to assess the players, rather than coming in over the summer and making rash decisions.
“I’m sure over the last six months he has assessed everyone and now is making his moves in the transfer market. He has already signed a goalkeeper and I am sure that is the first of many.”
