Chelsea seems to be the busiest club this January that is why they are hiring and firing players every other day. After whatever happened with United transfer deal, they are again ready to let one more player go, though this time to Italy. Yes, 31-year-old Ghanaian footballer Michael Essien, who has been associated with Blues back since 2005, finally decides to switch from England to Europe. Generally, whenever a player makes a shift, it is assumed that he would have not been the consistent player but this is not the case with Ghanaian footballer as he has played more than 250 games for League club along with a loan spell with Real Madrid. Though, no further details are yet known about the deal, but according to the sources, amount involved in this transfer is about 15 to 20 million pound though none of them has confirmed about the figure. Reason for his makeshift could also be his absence from the field this season, hence he could be looking for more opportunities playing with another team.
The deal was in discussion since last few months but intentionally kept under the table, and finally, when everything was done Milan first published a photograph on its official Twitter page showing Essien posing with Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani. Later, Chelsea also announced the detail via its official website where it mentioned, “To show Michael respect is to not stop him going. We would have been happy had he stayed because he is fantastic player for the team, but he’s given everything for the club and a great chance arrived for his future. I know he can continue to play at a high level and I wish him success and happiness in Italy and at the World Cup in Brazil.”
Actually, Milan could not have a good start this Italian season and residing on the ninth place with a good 28 points gap from Juventus, therefore manager Clarence Seedorf is looking to revamp its squad with some promising signings this January; in fact, this is his third reinforcement in the team after Japanese Keisuke Honda and French defender Adil Rami.
For now, Essien will have to undergo a medical and then he can be a part of Rossoneri until June 2015. Milan informed about this deal via site post where it said, “AC Milan announce they have acquired Michael Essien from Chelsea. He has signed a contract until June 30, 2015.”
