Jose Mourinho finally takes charge of Chelsea’s think-tank and starts signing his notable players. Germany international forward, Andre Schurrle, who has long been a favorite for the London club, is finally a man in the Blues. Notably, Chelsea’s earlier attempt to sign him could not materialize for some reasons but now new manager tries his best and used his negotiation skills to lure Bayer Leverkusen with a £18m paycheck which is much more than 22-year old forward had earlier demanded. The promising striker has a decent track record this season and scored 11 goals in 34 league games played for his German club Bayer Leverkusen. Moreover, with a third place in the league, Leverkusen has automatically qualified for the Championship league in Bundesliga. Actually, Schurrle had some talks with Chelsea last summer too but could not finalize the deal which he later regretted. For now, he will have to go through a medical test and probably some discussions for personal terms and then he can officially wear his blue t-shirt. Mourinho, who joined the EPL club back on 3 June, has always been a top performer for Chelsea; hence he has already been allotted with a big budget for signing new players this summer and Schurrle became the first official signee under new manager’s mentorship.
Chelsea issued a statement on its official website where it mentioned the details about its new signee; it reads as, “Chelsea Football Club and Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement for the transfer of Andre Schurrle. The deal is subject to the completion of legal documentation and related matters, including personal terms and passing a medical.”
As far time period of the deal is concerned, it is still a secret though it is expected that looking at the young age of striker; it would be around four to five years. For Chelsea, young players like him could prove fruitful along with a risk as well, coz he doesn’t have a very long experience facing strong teams and in England he is going to meet the giants like United and City, so it would be interesting to see how Mourinho manages to convert rather a new player into an reliable team asset. As far payment terms are concerned, there could possibly be a part exchange agreement between the two clubs involving Belgium winger Kevin De Bruyne who has been with Stamford Bridge club since January 2012, and if it happens, pricing could further be discounted. Anyways, let us welcome the new player in town!
