John Terry is a most famous name these days as far Chelsea is concerned but for erroneous reasons. For now, there are no allegations leveled against him nor has he used any racial abusive language to anyone. Let’s keep it simple, John Terry, Chelsea’s skipper, is out for at least three weeks after he injured his knee when he collided with Luis Suarez in 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday. His injury looked serious initially when he was taken off the field on a stretcher, but later, injury was not found as serious as it was predicted earlier. Blues coach Roberto Di Matteo said “With Terry, we’re looking at approximately three weeks out, fortunately it’s not as bad as we first thought.” Actually, it was an unlucky day for Terry coz he just returned after a four matches’ suspension and got a forced leave again. However, the good news is, he scored the only goal from Chelsea side in 20th minute of the game. Quoting his injury as unfortunate, Matteo said, “Terry’s injury was unfortunate as he looked sharp and gave the team a lot of confidence, but you have to deal with injuries.” Besides Terry, David Luiz is also not available coz of his tonsils swelling.
Terry’s career has seen many ups and downs recently. Earlier, he faced ban for his racial abuses to Anton Ferdinand in October 2011. He again suspended to play Chelsea matches against Tottenham, Swansea, ManU, and League Cup fourth round clash against Manchester United. He later was not chosen to play against Shakhtar Donetsk. After so many miss, he somehow manages to play against Liverpool, but unfortunately, he again gets himself out of the game for another three weeks. This time too, after getting first aid treatment, he went to the hospital where an MRI was conducted and found injury as minor, but he will have to rest for at least three weeks.
It happens with some players who always seem to be fighting for their space in a team. John Terry, despite his star value in England, could not streamline his field presence and forced to sit in the stadium one after another match. Anyways, the good side of his departure is, other young players would now get a chance to shine. As far captaincy is concerned, Goalkeeper Petr Cech will wear the captain’s armband in Terry’s absence. Let’s see if he manages to play even after three weeks.
