May 16, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

David Beckham

One of the most popular soccer personalities both on and off the field: David Beckham has finally decided to say good-bye to his most loved game of sport: football. The decision to leave the game comes as a surprise for everyone, coz, off late; he has been linked with signing another deal for his current club PSG where he is already playing on a short term deal which is going to expire next month. Just few days ago, he has set a millstone record to him name by becoming the only English player to win four titles playing for four different nations, and, of course, his latest triumph playing for PSG gave him a much needed platform to set this magnificent record. Actually, his current running deal with PSG has been in the news ever since he declared that he would donate his salary for a charity. More importantly, his stay at PSG always kept him on the radar of local as well international media right from the moment he signed the deal to the moments when he entered into the field either for training or during a real match. Despite missing many matches, he finally entered into the final match as substitute and made his dreams come true.

The 38-year-old former England captain started his soccer career playing for Manchester United at an age of just fourteen years and won as many as six EPL titles along with Championship league for them. In his twenty years long spanning career, he won 19 trophies, including 10 league titles. He said about his stay at PSG that “I’m thankful to PSG for giving me the opportunity to continue but I feel now is the right time to finish my career, playing at the highest level. If you had told me as a young boy I would have played for and won trophies with my boyhood club Manchester United, proudly captained and played for my country over 100 times and lined up for some of the biggest clubs in the world, I would have told you it was a fantasy. I’m fortunate to have realised those dreams.”

He also captained England’s national football team from 2000 to 2006, though he was playing in the national side back since 1996. About his future course of action, he added, “Nothing will ever completely replace playing the game I love, however I feel like I’m starting a new adventure and I’m genuinely excited about what lies ahead. I’m fortunate to have been given many opportunities throughout my career and now I feel it’s my time to give back.”
