Spanish footballer David de Gea, who plays for Manchester United as a goalie, has denied all the rumors that he could leave United for a probable move to Barcelona. Recently, Barca seemed to be looking for a replacement for its keeper Victor Valdes, and David de Gea was the man it has shortlisted as a replacement, but Gea clearly put a dot on all the speculations that he has been given a lucrative deal package if he decides to leave Old Trafford. Perhaps, he reiterates that he has long term plans for United; hence there is no question of leaving it at the moment. Actually, his power play in last few matches attracted many potential buyers of him and that is why media started making assumptions that he would be the next to make a shift. David de Gea, indeed, is a great fan of United’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson and always praises his management style and how he unites all the players together ahead of a match despite players’ personal matters. He also talked about United’s controversial ousted from Champions League and said; they would have surely made it to the knockout stage if Nani had not been sent off during second leg match against Real Madrid.
Anyways, boycotting all the news, he said, “I know things have been said and written but I have a contract. I’m very well in Manchester. It is not just my name that appears. At Barca, Valdes is still the keeper and Madrid is my city, one day I’d like to return. But now I hope to stay in Manchester for a long time and win a lot of titles.”
While asked about manager’s role in United, he said, “Sir Alex is more than a manager. He controls everything in the team. He’s a father for all those who come to the club. For that he is the best. A footballer has to get used to good and bad words. At times things are said that don’t make a lot of sense and it is part of the job to know how to live with that. The best thing is to know who you are always. Sir Alex has a lot of character and on that day he was very angry, although deep down what he felt more was pride for his team. We were superior to Madrid and deserved more but there were situations – unfair decisions – and we were knocked out.
“Football is like that and in that type of game details leave you knocked out. The expulsion of Nani marked the game and the tie. Without that red card it would be Manchester United in the quarter-finals.”
