Diego Costa finally scores a goal for Spain in Euro qualifier

October 11, 2014 by 888Scoreonline

When you are a star player for your club, expectations to perform likewise on international front increase three fold and if at this time you fail to satisfy your home fans, it pains to the core. Chelsea’s highly published Brazilian born Spanish forward Diego Costa is one such player who got lots of publicity for the compliments by Blues manager and later when he proved Mourinho faith by scoring nine goals in seven premier league games, Spanish fans jubilated and expected him to showcase similar form as well during Euro qualifiers. But, unfortunately, he could not score a single goal for his adopted nation until Sunday qualifier at Luxembourg where he netted first goal and eased burden from his shoulders a little bit. Factually, he could only score after playing some five hundred minutes for the La Roja and gave lots of meat to news hungry media guys to unveil his positive side as well. Those, who watched the full ninety minutes of Sunday game, find a new energy within each of the team player and credit goes to veteran coach who did a marvelous job in hiring and mixing good talent on the right times – not to forget the brilliant ball holding technique displayed by Dani Carvajal, Marc Bartra, David De Gea, and Koke.

Costa shared his state of mind after the game and how eased he is feeling after scoring first goal for his second home, he said, “The truth is it was bothering me quite a lot. I could not score. It was annoying me. I did not score, and the team lost the games I played. I did not know how I was going to score. But thankfully the ball dropped for me, and I just had to put it in. I have to thank the boss for all he has given me. Every game was another chance for me to show who I am, what I can do. I hope that from now things will go well for me.”

National coach Del Bosque also said in a post-match conference that “We are all happy for him, we all wanted him to score. He has always moved well, worked well. He wanted to give back with goals all we have given him. He will be very important for us in the future. We had all seen him a little nervous, he could not find a solution. But when you try so hard, and want something so much, you end up achieving it.”
