Every time we have an high profile injury during a crucial game that could affect the fate of the winner, player involved in the incident gets lots of negative media coverage doubting his intentions to play a genuine game and yesterday Euro 2016 final between Portugal and France was one such game that saw star Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo injured in the 25th minutes of the game. Since, he was the most inspiring player of the team, his injury could have gone worst for the whole side and it looked like so until last extra time play when Eder got the opportunity and hit a long strike to score the only goal of the game. Anyways, now, after Portuguese have been crowned the Euro champions, it is France star Dimitri Payet’s turn to take the heat on him hence he is made subjected to the countless eye brows being raised on him after Ronaldo exit, but like in most of the cases, Payet refuses to accept he collided with the Real forward intentionally, perhaps, he calls him unfortunate to have been involved in the incident which is making million of fans furious over him.
Talking about the incident, West Ham player as well refused to apologize for the incident as, according to him, it happened unintentionally, he said, “I came in for a tackle, full stop. I got the ball back, but if I hurt him it wasn’t intentional — it’s not in my nature to be a nasty player on the pitch. There’s no question about that.”
Amway’s looking at Payet’s performance in this Euro as well last domestic season, he is going to have lots of interests this summer but West Ham co-owner David Sullivan is not willing to let him go at any cost, however, he hints they can increase his wages from current £120,000 per week, which is already the most for a West Ham player, to £150,000 per week if he continues his form in upcoming season well. Talking about his future with the club, Sullivan said, “There might be six weeks of silliness when he bangs the table. But if you believe what he says, he wants to stay. The joke is somebody bids £30m for him, you can’t buy anything for £30m anymore. Just because he can get more money there, he expects us to sell him? Well, we’re not selling anybody. If they want to break the world record we might consider it, because it’s not then one-sided.
“The one-sided deal is somebody comes in with £30m or £40m, offers the player double the money he’s on, and the player wants to go because he can double his money. We get ripped off. Why should that be the case? We’re not going to stand for it.”
