Everyone in sports fraternity knows that a soccer career is essentially based on how you manage your relations with others, especially those who can influence your future prospects. This holds truer if you have already said anything unpleasing for your seniors – though at times when you were not his colleague. Cameroonian forward Samuel Eto is one person who seems to be following this theory more seriously and trying to improve or wash his relations with his current boss Mourinho, or it could also be his genuine apology for a senior personality made in a good faith. Anyhow, he recently confirmed about his once tensed relations with Mourinho which, according to him, have now improved pleasantly; he said this after uniting with Portuguese at Chelsea. Notably, the 32-year-player recently said that he would love to sell groundnuts in his village rather playing for a pathetic team like Chelsea. Clarifying his statements, he construes his words were pointed towards Mourinho’s team – not for Chelsea. He gave an interview lately where he clarified his statement and said, “I was talking about Jose – not about Chelsea. Before meeting at Inter, we didn’t know each other personally, so our relationship was tense. I even said one time that I’d never play for a club where Jose was coach.
“But God knows best. He wanted to show me that I was wrong and today Jose is a friend. Now he’s my coach again. It’s a real pleasure to team up with him once more and join a great team. Jose has a real clear idea. He talks straight and it’s really important in this business. He’s sincere and straightforward. When it comes to Jose, I can’t pick out only one quality because he’s as good on the pitch as off it and this is rare for a manager. He’s one of the best. He got in touch. I realised there was an opportunity at Chelsea – and things moved very fast.”
However, the satisfying news is he has now sorted out everything with Mourinho which is also applauded by team captain John Terry, who said, “I said to him: ‘Thank God you’re here.’ That’s because I’ve had so many battles against him. He’s such a threat, he’s obviously a few years older but he still looks very sharp and hungry. He’s got an eye for goal and I think he’ll be a good addition, he was welcomed straight into the squad.”
