Falcao joins United on the last day at six million pounds

September 2, 2014 by 888Scoreonline

Among all the league sides, Manchester United has been the hungriest side for new players in this summer transfer window and it proved with latest report from a leading international consultancy firm who said United spent a maximum amount in last summer to hire players while EPL clubs are still the heaviest spenders across the globe. But those who know this high net worth English side, were well aware that after arrival of new manager, it was expected that he would make some devastating changes in team’s composition and he did it even if it required to spend some one fifty millions to bring his choice of players to Old Trafford. Among all the new signees, Radamel Falcao’s move to the 2012-13 league winners has been dramatic as he was being followed by three league sides but United manage to sign him during the last hours of transfer window. Reportedly, they hired Colombian striker on loan for one year from Monaco at six million pounds with an intention to make his appointment permanent. Apart from deal amount, Gaal also agreed to pay him 350000 per week in wages as reported by Press Association Sport.

Performance wise, Falcao scored nine goals in seventeen games played for the French side and before that his tally was 28 and 24 goals in previous two seasons respectively. Dutch manager seems to be overexcited to have Monaco forward on the last day of transfer window and said he was too happy to have him in the team at this price tag. Like any other player who moves to Old Trafford, Falcao said, “It’s a dream come true to join a club like Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world. I’ve always dreamt about playing for one of the truly great teams and winning lots of trophies. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and you can’t turn that down.

“I’m a huge fan of English football and watch it whenever I can. Now the reality is I’m going to play there.”

Former United great Cristiano Ronaldo also hailed Reds for their move beating Real Madrid on the last day and said, “He is very good player. I think Manchester did very well. I don’t think he is the wrong type of player. He is a top player so I don’t think it is a wrong buy. I think he will be a fantastic buy. Manchester have not started well, two points, so they need quality players and Falcao is a quality player.”
