Nothing could be worse than watching your two goals lead equalized by a team having just ten players on the field. This is something that happened with AC Milan who gained two goals initial lead yet they could not earn full points coz their host successfully followed their lead and ended the game in a 2-2- draw. Milan was hoping to earn full points just for making it sure they will end up their Serie A campaign with a second place, but Fiorentina capitalized their two late penalties and equalized the game. Milan was on target right from the beginning when former Viola midfielder Riccardo Montolivo scored first goal of the game in the 14th minutes. Their initial lead also cemented by a red card to Nenad Tomovic in the 39th minute and reduced their opponent’s strength significantly. Within one hour, Frenchman Mathieu Flamini enhanced their lead by another goal; now things were very much in Rossoneri control until Adem Ljajic and David Pizarro could manage to equalize their edge in the last moments of the game. Actually, the whole game was very much in Milan’s control yet they could not fully exploit their earned chances.
Not to ignore the great efforts from Fiorentina who, despite a ten men army on the field, did fight till the end. They did not give up when they lost one important player from the field; perhaps they put in great enthusiasm and did not let their visitors earn full points out of this game. The Serie A leaderboard is very interesting right now coz Fiorentina is closely chasing Milan with just six points trail, and similarly, Milan is chasing second place holder Napoli with just two point trail. Above all, Juventus is enjoying its top lead with a comfortable 12 points lead from the second placeholder. Notably, only top two teams will qualify for the Champions League group stage while the third placeholder will have a place in the playoff round.
Milan player Mario Balotelli is again in the news for his known reasons; he is caught smoking in the toilet of the train carrying them to Fiorentina to play this game. Chief executive Adriano Galliani informed about his smoking catch by a train guard who told Galliani that “You need to pull his ears. He was smoking in the bathroom. Smoking is banned on Italian trains. I want to say that we’re going to fine him.”
