Gary Medel signs a four year deal with Cardiff City

August 11, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

Gary Medel

The new baby to English Premier League Cardiff City has started behaving like an English club by signing Gary Medel from the Spanish football club Sevilla. The deal price given by the Malky Mackay club is around £8m and its tenure is for four years. This is perhaps the biggest buying for the club so far and they are excited to mark their first step in the league competitions. The Chilean midfielder has long been observed by the club, but only after their qualification for the EPL, they initiated their first signee of the season. Medel has shown his impressive performance in 2010 world cup playing for Chilean national team; moreover, he also played just recently against none other than Manchester United. The deal is subject to the work permit for 26-year-old which should not be a problem looking at his nationality.

He started his career playing for Universidad Catolica and moved to Boca Juniors back in 2009. By the 2011, he became a favorite for Sevilla who signed him that year and now he has grown-up to be a league player. For now, he is going to play a friendly for his national site against Iraq on Wednesday and then he will join his new army where more players are scheduled to party him very soon.

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay informed the world about his new teammate through club’s official website where he wrote, “We’re delighted to have secured the services of Gary – a tenacious and intelligent international midfielder. Having had two seasons of regular football in La Liga – with 60-odd international caps to his name and three appearances at a World Cup – his experience will be an invaluable asset to our squad.

“He’s played in a number of Boca v River Plate derbies in Argentina – one of the world’s biggest derby matches – and I’ve no doubt that his background and pedigree will complement our midfield group in the Barclays Premier League.”

Clearly, manager is too impressed with his performances in La Liga and Argentina and that is why he approached his bosses to make a formal attempt which eventually went successful. This could be the beginning of his promising career if he could leave his marks on the field, coz he is now at the galaxy of big clubs where he needs to speak with his show on the ground. Anyway, let’s congratulate him to join the league competition!
