Whenever a player leaves a side amid reported differences with his manager or any player, he is expected to reveal full details of his departure but only after he joins another side and if he has been associated with a big English name, it becomes even reasonable for him to clear the air about his exit. Former Manchester United’s highly acclaimed attacking midfielder Ángel Di María is one such player who has had several differences with his United boss Van Gaal and apparently he had to leave the side for same reason. Initially, it was taken as his anger towards the Dutchman that is forcing to him to yell negative about the ManU boss but now when Red Devils are having a dreadful season, current PSG player finds it right time to clarify why he had to leave the side and if he was having any difference with his boss. The first and most obvious reason for his switch, as he reveals, was inconsistency about his position in the field, i.e., Van Gaal played him on six difference positions which was not in the liking of player himself especially if he was someone to join the Manchester giant at a heavy £60 million price tag.
Recalling the environment in the dressing room when he was playing for ManU, 28-year-old said in his recent interview, “It’s not nice to say certain things but it’s more that they didn’t let me settle properly than I couldn’t settle. I left and the team are still playing the same way. Out of the European competitions, far from being champions of the Premier League.
“I don’t think it was my fault or the fault of my teammates. Every time I was given the opportunity, I did all I could but it didn’t work out as I hoped. So I decided to leave, not only to be happy but to win things.”
“I started a game in one position then the next game in another. I scored goals playing in one position, then suddenly the next game I was picked to play in a different position. I think this also didn’t help me settle,” he added over his varying positions. “It’s up to the manager to decide where and how every player should play, but I think that the player should be comfortable in that position and adapt to it. That is what I’m doing here and I’m very thankful to the manager for it.”
