When you are winning you are the king of the world and get the rights to use strict tone in your statements. Chelsea is one such side who is on the top of the premier league table for several weeks and now it looks sure they will take the glory this year.
Team manager Antonio Conte is the one who should be given credit for all the changes Blues have shown in this season and while doing so Conte also took many decisions which were not in liking of the few senior team players but this does not worry him too much as he believes he is here to win game not to please players or anyone else. If we grossly look at the starting lineup of the North Londoners in this season, it is largely unchanged which means Conte did not do many experiments with his selection even if it made many benched players like John Terry and Cesc Fabregas unhappy for not getting a chance to play in the starting eleven.
Asking all these benched players to put pressure on him so he got forced and pick them, Conte said ahead of the FA Cup tie against Wolves, “When he doesn’t start in the lineup, he’s not happy, but not only John, or Cesc, or Pedro, or Hazard. I want the player to try to fight to put me under pressure, to give me the problems to solve the best solutions for the team. It’s important to understand that when you stay in a great team, the most important thing, the target, is to win, not to try have 21 players happy and you don’t win anything. The owner doesn’t ask this: to make 21 players happy. I’m happy if we win, not if we lose and have 21 players happy.”
Adding about his success leading a highly demotivated side and what helped him do the magic with Chelsea, he furthered, “I was a footballer, I know what happens in the changing room. For the players that are used to playing every game, for the players that are not playing a lot. For the players that are not playing, but this situation is normal in the changing room. I have the same things for every single player, not more thought for 11 players or 12 players. I try always to pay great attention for every single player.
“It’s important, this. I want to give them a great respect because I demand this. It’s the right way to have a good dressing room.”
