Growing age has ever been a hurdle for soccer players, coz this is the period when their favorites start ignoring them, however, it is not necessary everyone is rejected as he reaches nearer to thirty. Barcelona’s 29-year-old midfielder Andres Iniesta is one such starlet who has not been given a contract extension, but he is confident to get one. His current deal with La Liga champions is upto June 2014, in fact; reportedly, he was given an extension offer which he rejected for unknown reasons. Though, he expects lucrative terms this time but also wants to stay with Camp Nou club. As he is reaching towards the end of his Barca deal, Manchester United and Manchester City both are trying their luck to take him to England, but according to close sources, Spanish giant is in no mood to release their star central midfielder. He recently revealed his future plans where he sees himself retiring at the club; hence both United and City have no chances despite having mouthwatering contracts with them. Barca think-tank knows if two top league clubs are after their player, they would have something special in their hands hence both President Sandro Rosell and Secretary Toni Freixa are trying to prepare an extension deal which is even more attractive to Iniesta.
Though, he is not taking money as his priority still money can roll anything and everyone knows that. He told to a news source about his ambitions and how his extension means for him, “The renewal is not something which concerns me from day to day. I do not care about being in second, third, or fourth place at Barca. I just want to feel the same from the club’s side, as what I feel for Barca.
“There are other things more important than money. If I had the intention to leave I would let my contract run down, but I do not want that. When the moment to renew arrives, it will arrive. If two people want to understand each other there is no problem. I do not like to call it ‘negotiations’; Barca is my family. You never sort these things out in just two months.”
Right now, he is concentrating on Spain’s last two world cup qualifiers where they need only four points to qualify for the Brazil world cup. He also talked about their world cup plans and said, “We must make the final step for Brazil. We have it all pretty well in hand, but until it is done we cannot be sure. We are all excited about returning to Brazil, and trying to retain the trophy.”
