It’s a tie for mega showdown between Manchester United and Real Madrid

February 15, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

It has always been an alluring display of soccer when two legendry soccer teams are in front of each other. The much hyped Champions League match between Manchester United and Real Madrid United was ended in a 1-1- draw, and it was completely biased towards Real’s Ronaldo who shifted to Santiago Bernabeu from United back in 2009 at a hefty price tag. It was the first time he was facing his old teammates in a match, and he perfectly made them feel sorry to leave such a power player. Though, the match was ended in a draw, there was something more than just one goal from each side. The clash between two legendry clubs has long been awaiting, and finally, Dday came, and it showed why the world was waiting to see two of the finest soccer clubs facing each other. The host Real Madrid would have won this game should visitor’s goalie had not done the magnificent job by stopping almost every attempt to cross their net. Even Ronaldo equalizer was almost reached by him, but since it was Ronaldo, his shot was almost inaccessible by any goalie of the world. United goalie David de Gea’s performance was hailed by everyone; feasibly he was the only one who was between Real’s win. Interestingly, both goals scored in the game were done via header but Ronaldo’s job was just outstanding.

Game began with a healthy note as both teams tried to gain the edge for first nineteen minutes and then it was the time for Danny Welbeck who finally gave United a much needed lead over host. But, United could not live with its lead for long coz in just ten minutes Ronaldo gave them back their lead, he jumped high and fired a brilliant header which was almost impossible for the goalie to even reach onto it. It was the first goal scored by Ronaldo against his own ex-club and 183rd for Real in 180 played matches for them. United manager Alex Ferguson initially criticized his goalie for not stopping Ronaldo’s header but when he saw the footages in slow motion, he realized how brilliant shot it was to catch by any goalie. He later cherished Ronaldo shot and said,

“I said to Patrice Evra at half-time, ‘why didn’t you challenge him?’ and then I saw the replays It was then that I thought, ‘what was I talking about?’

“I felt a bit stupid because, on the replay, Cristiano’s knee is about as high as Evra’s head – phenomenal.”
