Neymar is finally a colleague of Messi as confirmed by both Barcelona and star Brazilian who has until been playing for his home club Santos. According to Barca, they have cracked a deal to keep the forward until summer 2018. This is perhaps the biggest news at Camp Nou where everyone has been expecting this to happen since rumors began about a possible understating between Santos and Spanish giant. There was a close competition between Real Madrid and Barcelona coz both of them were wanted to sign the player, and moreover, some EPL clubs were also interested in taking the player to England, but Neymar chose Barca over others to continue his promising career with one of the most appealing soccer personalities: Messi. Neymar announced about his new home through his Instagram and Facebook accounts and told that coming Santos match with Flamengo on Sunday would be his last for the club. Later, Barcelona also added him in its official players’ page and welcomed through their twitter account. Club also issued a statement mentioning “FC Barcelona and Santos have agreed to terms for Neymar da Silva Santos Junior. The Brazilian forward will don the Blaugrana strip for the next five seasons.”
Expected deal price is €28 million for a five-year term which enables player to take home somewhere around €7m per year playing in Spain. Neymar’s running contract with Santos has one more year, and, despite signing with Barca, he will only manage to play after the Confederation Cup in June. What he said about his new contract for La Liga club is, “It is not going to hold out until Monday. My family and friends already know my decision. On Monday, I will sign a contract with Barcelona.
“I want to thank the fans of Santos for these incredible nine years. My feeling for the club and the fans will never change. It is eternal! Only a club like Santos FC could give me everything I experienced on and off the field. I thank the wonderful Peixe fans who supported me even in the most difficult moments. I insisted on playing my last match, tomorrow, in Brasília. I want to have the chance to walk into the pitch once more, wearing this shirt and hearing the fans sing my name.
“Titles, goals, dribbling, celebrations and songs that fans created for me will be forever in my heart. This is a different moment for me. I’m sad (because of the goodbye) and happy (to have a new challenge). May God bless my choices…”
