Barcelona never misses a chance to keep its star players with it for longer than ever and in their current effort to extend the contracts of key players they have extended the term for Luis Suarez until 2021. This is second player of Barca forward line to have such an extension after Neymar who agreed a deal until 2021 earlier this year. Nonetheless, while the deal is being underway, everyone wants to know the status of Messi contract and why his extension is being delayed by the club bosses or if Messi is really willing to enlarge his stay at Camp Nou. If we rely over the rumors Argentine is about to sign a deal of this effect early next year and senior Messi is in the city to discuss the matter with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu. Anyways, let us talk about Suarez extension whose current contract was until 2019 but he had hinted over several occasions that talks are underway to further his Barca stay.
Sharing his pleasure on enlarging his stay with Barca giant he said, “I feel complete happiness because I am where I want to be. It’s now official, I never put any obstacles in the way of a renewal. I will never lose my ambition and enthusiasm for winning trophies and scoring goals. My renewal has nothing to do with Neymar or Messi‘s. Leo is great and he knows what he has to do and decide. As a teammate I am available to help him but Leo is old enough to decide for himself. We are friends and we have a great relationship, but he is an adult and he has to take that decision.”
As far financials of current deal are concerned, nothing officially has been revealed but according to few news sources Suarez will earn €16 million per season that Neymar reportedly receives along with a buyout clause which is set at €200m. Sharing his experience playing in Spain, Pichichi award winner added, “I suffered a lot to make it here and I want to enjoy it and continue fighting to complete my objectives, which is to win titles,” he said at the presentation of the European Golden Shoe.
“I would love to retire here, but that obliges you to stay at the top level for your whole career. But I’m not thinking about that now. There are only a few privileged enough to retire here.”
