Big soccer clubs often hesitate releasing their star players for international assignments fearing of any unwanted injury that could ruin their heaviest investment on them and if we talk about Barcelona’s sensational striker Neymar, it holds true. This Brazilian has recently been in the limelight, not for his field performance, but for what is being said in the media about his 2016 summer campaign. Knowingly, Brazilian Football Federation was willing to play him in both Copa America Centenario and well Olympics for his national side, while Spanish club was not willing to allow its costlier player risks his fitness by playing in both the events. After long running discussion among the two sides, finally we have an agreement where Brazilian FA agreed to play former Santos player in summer Olympics only. This would ease the pressure from the player as well who has consistently been associated with Barca this season. Calling it a win-n-win situation for both Barcelona as well Canarinho, who have never won the Olympics Gold in this category, club manager Luis Enrique said, “It was a consensual decision between all parties. Everyone wants the best for the player, even that he, it’s clear, had a desire to represent his country, which makes sense and is normal.”
“But in the end, all parties arrived at this agreement, and I think it’s fantastic for everyone. It’s the best for the club, for the player and for the national team.”
The agreement between the two is also getting an applaud across social media including team colleagues since the controversy had reached almost to a controversy point after Spanish giant apparently refused to risk Neymar’s fitness by deploying him on busiest soccer events during summer, but after yesterday news, everyone got a breath of relief. Barcelona issued a statement thanking Brazilian FA, it said, “Barcelona thanks the Brazilian Football Confederation and its president Marco Polo Del Nero, who accepted the proposal made to the club for the player Neymar Jr. only have to compete in the Olympic Games of 2016, which take place between Aug. 3-21.
“In this way, Neymar Jr. is released to play the Copa America, which will be played in the United States between June 3-26.”
Brazilian federation as well informed about the development via a site post that says, “The Brazilian Football Federation confirms forward Neymar will only dispute the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. CBF proposed alternatives to also have the player at the Copa America Centenario, but understood his club’s reasons for not making him available. CBF thanks the player’s efforts in trying to dispute both competitions.”
