Liverpool has had been center of criticism off late for losing few players that could been the match maker for them including of course Suarez, who now plays for Barcelona, and 21-year-old Raheem Sterling, who is now an integral part of Manchester City. Since, Sterling’s move to Manchester gained lots of media attention for the way he changed his mind lots of times including his denial to have an extension playing for the Anfield side, in fact, he had to face fans anger as well for his switch out of Reds den. After all the developments that took place on his arrival, it is obvious City bosses would expect him to deliver his best and prove £44 million investment made by Manuel Pellegrini was not wrong. Upcoming Capital One Cup final at Wembley will be the first game when he can achieve his first title success especially playing against his former side, therefore head coach expects him to show his best form despite missing training session last Friday.
Actually, Sterling form has been center of attraction before the season and there were several sides eyeing over him but young English Jamaican midfielder chose only to play for his favorite Manchester City after several arguments with Anfield bosses and now when he is having an opportunity to prove it to City bosses, the 62-year-old Chilean does not want him to miss the golden opportunity, he said in the press conference ahead of Wembley game, “If we win a couple of titles and Raheem has an important performance it will be a good season for him. I don’t think it’s good to analyse his season in this moment. He has done good things, bad things and was very important the other day. He is a very young player so must improve every year. If you ask me if I’m happy to bring him here this year then yes, I am very happy. He continues to improve and give a lot of things to our squad.
“He has a lot of speed, good technique, goals — that’s why we bought him. I’m sure he can be a very successful player but it will depend on the way he improves.”
Talking about his faceoff with former side and if it would put him under pressure, he added, “For every player it is never comfortable to play against an old team. Everyone has links, friends inside the club. But he is a professional player. He came here to win titles. I’m sure he will have a very good performance. I don’t think he has anything to prove. For him that motivation is very good. I hope he will be focused just on having a good performance and not thinking about the boos he receives during the game or what happened in the past. He is now a Manchester City player and he will try to win for us.”
