While most of the clubs are busy in drafting their buy out deals in running transfer window, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has intensified another issue regarding completely banning or at least reducing January transfer window. Interestingly, another high profile soccer official, UEFA president Michel Platini, is also in his support for such a move. Wenger has a reason for his demand; he finds lots of players and coaches live in a dilemma throughout the season about whether they will stay for their teams they have started with or not. Such uncertainty obviously effects their involvement with the game and downgrades their match performances. His follower on the issue, Platini, told to the reporters at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, “I think it’s unacceptable when, in one part of the competition, a player plays for team A against team B and, in the second half, he plays for team B against team A. This transfer window has been created to allow for a certain amount of business in a few other situations, but I think overall it damages the competitions.”
Wenger’s club Arsenal has not initiated any transfer in current transfer window as yet; despite his fellow clubs are busy building lucrative deals to sign up their ‘dream’ players. However, he did not completely deny of making any new sign up during current transfer window, but reiterated that this is not necessary for his team. He also added, if it is not possible to abolish the window, then it is better to restrict it to two or three players to create more stability in players’ tenure. He said in a new conference, “I think it should all be completely cut out or limited to two players. It’s unfair for the league, some teams who have played for example Newcastle now twice already have an advantage on teams who play Newcastle now they have bought six or seven players. You do not face exactly the same team so I believe the number of players you could buy should be limited.”
Citing about the prevailing system, he said it is a completely unfair market where clubs only sell their players coz they are in some kind of financial trouble or if some players are creating more problems for them. Hence, only one transfer window is more than enough to maintain the dignity of players at the places where they are; this would also ensure a kind of confidence within players and coaches to perform better with their official signees.
