John Terry to Miss Club World Cup

December 9, 2012 by 888Scoreonline

John Terry

If there is one name who is the most popular soccer personality for various reasons, it would surely be John Terry, whether it is racial case, or his penalty or his club’s warning given to him. Further, there is a whole debate started in soccer fraternity about how to eradicate racial abuses from soccer. But this time, Terry is in the news for genuine soccer reasons, i.e., his injuries. As per the current media buzz Terry may not play Club World Cup, coz of his ongoing knee injury. Last month; he got his right ligament damaged and if he somehow decides to play in coming Club World Cup in Japan, his recovery would delay further. Hence, according to Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez, it is better to rest him for another period of time. Benitez said, “The inflammation during the flight will not be the best thing for him so he will not travel. He wanted to go and to help, but it’s better that he stays here. We don’t know when he will play. We have to wait and see how he reacts.”

Notably, Chelsea has won European Cup for the first time in May and because of that win, it got entitled for a direct entry to the semifinal which is going to be played on Wednesday between Chelsea and either of Ulsan Hyundai or Monterrey in Yokohama. But, as per latest medical reports of Terry; he will not be available for the coming FIFA Club World Cup matches. Earlier, club’s medical officers assessed his injury and declared about his rest, and so, manager also decided not to keep him for their coming trip to Japan. The 32-year old soccer starlet suffered said injury when he collided with Liverpool’s striker Luis Suarez at Stamford Bridge last month. Because of that injury, Terry could not participate in training sessions as well.

So, at the time when Chelsea is facing one after another blows, its captain’s unavailability is another blow as far club’s falling reputation is concerned. Out of the blue, one more news is coming from Chelsea camp, i.e., it is in talk with Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola at £20 million-a-season contract, if Guardiola agrees to take on Chelsea manager job from next summer. This season has been one of the seasons that Chelsea would not like to remember for long. Moreover, if Barcelona’s highly reputed manager joins it, Chelsea could dream of a better football season next year.
