A tight and tiring schedule has ever been the biggest problem for any side to cope with and whenever we talk about any high profile side, it often complains to have been passing through an uncomfortable play schedule which is enough to exhaust all the stamina of their players.
Many times, it is also the safest excuse for the side who is not able to deliver as expected and this could be something that seems to be happening with Manchester United and its highly under pressure newly appointed boss Jose Mourinho who says upcoming October schedule is too poisonous for his side. This is noteworthy that Portuguese brought in few costliest players into his side in the just concluded transfer window and despite having been in the headlines for his aggressive spending, former Chelsea boss could not impress anyone in the initial phase of the season, and his current statement about the schedule could be his ground making attempt for any possible disastrous show in the next month as he has already passed through similar circumstances mentoring his former sides.
He was talking about their upcoming games after 1-0 Europa League defeat to Zorya Luhansk at Old Trafford on Thursday and then he highlighted the possible setbacks his side could phase in the middle of the season. If we look at few of their upcoming games, they will be playing with Liverpool in an away game on the Monday, Europa League game against Fenerbahce on Oct. 20, trip to Chelsea, and then League Cup tie against Manchester City and looking at the importance of all these games, it is highly possible, United will have to use its best combination of players to recover from the early debacles.
He said to the reported, “We could have played Liverpool on the Saturday or on the Sunday. We play Liverpool on the Monday, so maybe we don’t have the best conditions. We have this kind of poisoned gift of playing on a Monday, which creates a very difficult situation, but we want to try to get to the next round.
“Before that we have Stoke. Stoke is another poisoned gift. Stoke is not what the table says — that’s not Stoke’s position.”
This is not the first time he is complaining for a tight schedule as he has done so several times in the past, it is just the matter of time how his side delivers in the next month, if everything goes well, he will not repeat his complaint else he will take it to the next level with his outspoken kind of attitude.
