Friday was the day when Manchester United finally put a big dot on all the rumors suggesting who will be their top officer after apparent exit of the Van Gaal. Former Chelsea boss José Mourinho is appointed as the next manager at helm by Red Devils and they took this decision after lots of discussion with both Portuguese and Dutchman and finally concluded Mourinho is the man they should trust for the time being. However, none of the club officials has been saying anything against the former boss, yet they all are over exaggerated for the new appointment at the key post and believe next season could be a breakthrough for them looking at Mourinho past record where he win two EPL titles leading Chelsea and missed one that cost him his job. Immediately after being announced as the Old Trafford boss, Mourinho issued his first statement and said United should forget past three years and look forward. It was not like the ordinary statement we are accustomed with whenever a manger joins the side, but since, Mourinho has suffered the pain of being sacked he would not take his job lightly.
He said, “I think we can look at our club now in two perspectives. One perspective is the last three years and another perspective is the club history. I think I prefer to forget the past three years, I prefer to focus on the giant club I have in my hands now and I think what the fans are expecting me to say is that I want to win. I think the players need to listen — I want to win.”
Adding about the experience facing ManU leading a different side like Chelsea, Real Madrid and Inter Milan in the past, former Everton boss said, “I think it’s very important and curious that I play so many times against Manchester United and I play so many times at Old Trafford with other clubs. There was empathy, no problems, and in fact I was pushed by that feeling to say sometimes things that my clubs were not happy with. I remember, for example, when I won at Old Trafford with Real Madrid and I said that the best team lost, and not many people were happy at Real Madrid.”
Earlier Red Devils vice chairman Ed Woodward welcomed him and said, “Jose is quite simply the best manager in the game today. He has won trophies and inspired players in countries across Europe and, of course, he knows the Premier League very well, having won three titles here. I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome him to Manchester United. His track record of success is ideal to take the club forward.”
