Kenny Dalglish back in Anfield as non-executive director

October 5, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

It is always a good news for any club manager or a top official that his club calls him back, especially if he has been fired recently for unfair reasons. Liverpool’s former Scottish manager Kenny Dalglish is back to the club after a gap of 16 months. Earlier, he has served the side on two occasions, but this time he will be used for strategic decision making process which requires his decade old expertise of the game. Actually, when he was sacked everyone undermined his credibility and skill to lead a team, but after this call; he can reclaim his lost dignity by offering some notable advices to improve the league club in future. His last two jobs were as an ambassador and caretaker manager along with serving the club for 13 long years as a player, so he has ever been associated with Reds in different roles. He feels overwhelmed to see his manager has called him back; he shared his honor via a statement where he said, “It is an honour and privilege to be asked to return to Liverpool as a director of the club. I have always said if there is anything I could do to help this club I would make myself available – when the call came I had no hesitation.

“I am looking forward to working with the board of directors and contributing to the strategic issues that affect Liverpool Football Club. Liverpool has given me and my family so much since we came here just over 36 years ago and my priority is and will always be to have the club’s best interests at heart.”

This season, Liverpool has a dream start and comfortably residing on the second spot just after Arsenal and if everything goes as planned by the think-tank, they could regain their lost title after a gap of more than a decade. Advocating his fine tuning with club supporters, John Henry, the American owner of The Reds, said, “We are delighted Kenny has accepted our offer to join Liverpool as a non-executive board director and we are sure he will make a valuable contribution to the Club’s strategy. Kenny has a unique relationship with our supporters and embodies everything that is special about Liverpool. We are thrilled that the club will benefit from his experience and passion for the Club and our supporters.

“Kenny has a unique insight on the values and traditions that helped to make Liverpool one of the greatest sporting institutions, not just in football, but in world sport. We are proud and honoured to have him back at the club he has represented with such distinction.”
