Liverpool heavily depends upon Suarez: Steven Gerrard

August 1, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

Soccer has ever been treated as a team game where each player has his decided role and he needs to perform nothing but the best in his given area. However, things start going wrong when this age-old theory works in different direction, like what is happening at League club Liverpool. There have been several talks in recent times over its key player Luis Suarez’s transfer, perhaps player himself has asked them to relieve him but Reds are in no mood to let him go at any cost. Recently, Arsenal looks to be a dedicated buyer for the star footballer; it has ever submitted two bids: one for £40million and next one for £1 extra, but bosses at Liverpool did not give their due consideration to any of them. In fact, the second bid was intelligently put forward by the Invincibles coz they know it will trigger a contract clause and Suarez can legally bind his club to initiate his transfer proceedings. According to latest news coming from Anfield, captain Gerrard has admitted to be so dependent on the dissent player that he sees no reason they can perform well without him. If Suarez makes a move, he will directly be against them in the Champions League which will be even worse for shattering club and that why captain wants him to move to Spain rather to north London – if it ever happens.

Gerrard talked about the whole developments being taken place at Anfield in an interview given to a news source where he said, “It’s difficult every season to finish in the top four positions because of the power the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United have got at the moment.

“The likes of us, Tottenham and Arsenal are fighting to sneak into the other place that’s available. Where we sit actually right now, it all depends on what decision Luis Suarez makes in the next few weeks. If we lose him then the challenge becomes even more difficult. It’s that simple. If he goes to Arsenal, it obviously makes our season that little bit more difficult.

“It strengthens them an awful lot and they are our rivals for a top-four position. From the club’s point of view it doesn’t make sense at all, no matter how much money is put on the table. From a family point of view, it’s where they all want to be. Javier Mascherano, Xabi Alonso, some of the top players I’ve played with – their dream was to play for Real or Barcelona.

“If I was him I would wait for one of those two clubs because I think he’s good enough to play for them.”
