English players have always been known for their short temper, but until now, only experienced players were known to do some hasty mistakes at public places. Now, a 17 year old England’s national teammate: Raheem Sterling, who also plays for Liverpool, has been booked by the police for assaulting a woman on 2 November in Toxteth area. Since, he is a known soccer starlet; detectives interviewed him with caution and after taking an appointment. In fact, he has not been arrested by now, as police says investigations are on. Jamaican born attacking winger started his international career for England last week when he won his first international cap in Sweden. Police also issued a statement over the matter under pressure. They said, “Merseyside police can confirm that a 17-year-old male from the Woolton area was interviewed under caution following a report of an assault on Friday 2 November. A 27-year-old woman received slight injuries during the incident. At this time, the investigation is ongoing and no formal action has been taken.”
At the moment, he is in a contract with Liverpool, and Liverpool has officially denied for any comment on the incident. If, his on-road mishaps are left apart, in-field; he is a promising youngster who’s eventually going to be associated with Liverpool for a longer term as confirmed by Brendan Rodgers few days back. Perhaps, it was his finest gameplay for Liverpool that drew Roy Hodgson’s attention and he got his international call making him Liverpool’s youngest player to be called for an international duty. Moreover, Rodgers seems to be much impressed with his young goldmine; he said, “He is so bright and so sharp and what I like now is that you are seeing that little bit of arrogance with the ball. He knows he has a lot to learn and a lot to improve on, but you see him and Luis Suarez combining better in each game and that is a tribute to them and how hard they are working on the training ground. If you play as a front player your job is simple: it is either to score goals or create goals and then you function defensively. The kid has been brilliant. We just have to nurture that.”
As far his violent behavior is concerned, no one seems to be agreeing on that. But, since, he is young in age and would have an issue with the said woman that could have provoked him to assault her. Keeping its high profile status in mind; police is taking every step very carefully, hence no further details are yet made available, but as the case develops, lot more details would be made available by investigating officers. Until then, let us take him as innocent and clap on his recent performances for the Reds!
