Soccer has now grown to be a most decorated game of sport where you can find whole bunch of experts of different field giving their views over any team or player. Sometimes, these so called experts become nightmare for a side who is already struggling to recollect its form. Manchester United is one such side who is falling on the board every other day, in fact, just few days ago they were on the top on table but now they are fighting hard to sustain even fourth position and manager Van Gaal is confident to have a better season this year than last one if experts like Paul Scholes stops influencing fans about form of his team. Recently Dutchman has been severely criticized by English media for his so called innovative changes in the field spread altering key players position including that of captain Rooney which is costing them now when they are finding it hard to defend the firing legs of opponents. Saturday game with West Brom was a tough affair for the Red Devils until visitors were reduced to ten-men and then Old Trafford side could manage to win the game with 2-0 margin securing their fourth leaderboard position.
And interestingly, Van Gaal blames experts for their deteriorated goodwill among fans who are accusing their gameplay in every TV debate which influences fans confidence in a negative way. He said, “I was pleased how they reacted against CSKA Moscow because you have to accept that fans have their own opinion but I think they were very influenced by Paul Scholes and all the criticism and what the media has written about that and then you to have to analyse the game also against CSKA Moscow.
“And when you are yelling ‘attack, attack, attack’ when you are 85 minutes attack, then you have to think by yourself as a fan: ‘Hey, is it all right to yell?’ but they want to let them know that we have to score. Of course my mother knows that and my grandmother knows that.”
Explaining why he had to change the position of Jesse Lingard, he added, “I put him in the line-up in the first game against Swansea City last season at home because he had impressed me already, but then he had a very heavy injury in that game so he needed to rehabilitate and that takes a long time. But I said in the beginning of the season I wanted to keep him and he had to wait for the moment that he was in better shape than his companions for the same position and since then he is playing I think he is playing very well.”
