Luis Suarez now wants to stay with Liverpool

Luis Suarez

How things can change in football world is known to everyone and a perfect example of how players change their comments to suit the atmosphere they are living in is right here. Liverpool high profile striker Luis Suarez has until been saying that he wants to make a shift to play in the Champions league, and now he is saying a completely different thing, perhaps he now looks like to be more loyal to Liverpool than he was one month back. Last month, he gave an interview and openly said that he would like to move to another club if it means he can play in the Champions league next season. Notably, he has a contract with Liverpool to play with them until 2017, so he is nowhere near to that expiry then how he suddenly wants to play for another club would surely have a reasonable backdrop. Moreover, media recently reported his links up with many clubs including Juventus, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich, but looks like he could not have a comfortable deal with any of them hence he has taken a U-turn and talking about his long living relationship with Liverpool.

In his latest interview he said, “I’ll be here next season, yes. Not only am I playing for Liverpool, I am playing in one of the best leagues in the world. I am very happy and I want to see out my contract, though in football you never know quite what’s ahead. A club can decide they don’t want you, even though you want to stay. In football things never turn out the way you plan. If I played against a forward who winds me up every game, tries to get on my nerves and drive me mad…it’s difficult to vote for someone who does that.”

Interestingly, he is among the top six players who have been shortlisted for player of the year award, though he does not see his chances to win it despite scoring a maximum number of goals in the EPL this season. He blames his deteriorating image with other players for this, he said, “It’s hard to vote for a player who’s shouting at you all game and trying to wind you up. But I also think you have to look and evaluate from a footballing perspective. Player of the year was never an aim at the start of the season or something I dream about. It’s something I’d always remember, but I’m not going mad to win it.”
