Polish right defender Lukasz Piszczek, who also plays for Borussia Dortmund; a German Bundesliga club, has marked a period on all the speculations over his transfer to various clubs. Actually, he was in touch with various clubs in last twelve months; hence, everyone was expecting his transfer to either of Chelsea, Manchester United, or Real Madrid whom he was in touch with. He perhaps expressed his pleasure being with an ‘extraordinary’ club like Borussia Dortmund for a longer period of time. He discussed about his new contract via club’s website and said that “I have been playing here for two years and in that time I have grown close with the football culture here, the club and the fans.”
“It is an honour and responsibility to play for this extraordinary club,” 27-year-old further added.
Coming Tuesday, Dortmund will have a clash with Real Madrid in Champions League in front of their home crowd, and Piszczek will be a part of it with a new confidence and enthusiasm altogether. Interestingly, as told, he was on the radar of many top clubs and Chelsea was one of them, perhaps, after the departure of Jose Bosingwa, Chelsea was in dire need of Piszczek, but final it could not succeed in signing him. Despite associated with various clubs from across the world, he finally decided to stay with Dortmund along with Poland national team for all international matches. Indeed, throughout his international career: right from his first match against Estonia in 2007 to his last matches till date in Euro 2012, he has had an impressive run.
Regarding latest deal extension, neither he nor his club has yet disclosed the signing figure, but it is to be believed that amount is quite handsome for motivating him for next 5 years! Besides, Dortmund is equally excited to have him for further period of time. Its sports director Michael Zorc said, “With Lukasz Piszczek we have kept a defensive specialist who was hunted by clubs around Europe. He was a pillar of the success of recent years. We firmly believe that Lukasz will contribute even more as a player and as a personality to us fulfilling our goals”
Piszczek, who has made around 140 matches appearances for the club along with Poland national team, has always been a key element for the club; hence everyone seems to be excited and thrilled to see him with his redefined vibes!
