Manchester City has not been as successful this season as it was supposed to be, but it seems to be improvising slowly and steadily. Yes, they defeated none other than Arsenal by a convincible 6-3 margin to surge their leaderboard position to third spot. Arsenal is still on the top while Chelsea is comfortable on the second spot. Anyways, this is just the December and next few months can refine the top-five list again and most favorite to come to that are of course Manchester United who has planned some big signings this winter. There could have been different views why Arsenal could not overcome last year’s runner up or what went wrong that they lost the match miserably. Actually, they were playing without their in-form ace Mesut Ozil who could have been an asset for the Holloway club. Ozil realized his mistake after looking at the winning margin and without waiting any time apologized for his inadvertent mistake to all the fans. Everyone understands the impact this loss can make on the whole leaderboard structure that is why 25-year-old German footballer used Facebook post to regret his mistake; he wrote:
“Sorry I didn’t thank the fans at the end of the game! You have been brilliant to me and I know you had travelled a long way and spent your money to support us. I was upset with the result and know I should have come to you to say ‘thank you’ and I know it is a big Arsenal tradition win, lose or draw.”
Gunners are having a dream spell this season and right on the top for quite some time, while its critics are long saying, they would love to see it on the top by the end of March coz they usually lost their thirst to be on the top very soon. While Arsene Wenger is confident his team can end the long running drought by winning their most lovely silverware, however, he accepted it’s one of the worst defeats this year, he said, “It is not beyond a bad day, it is a bad day,” Wenger said on BT Sport.
“We conceded six goals, we lost our discipline at the end and were too open when I took Flamini off. Out of the six goals we gave them five and when we came back to 2-1, we had a chance but could not take it. They scored the goals and you cannot say they did not deserve them. We have to come back to reality and it’s about us defending together and we have not done that today.”
