Manchester City sign Eliaquim Mangala for £32m

August 12, 2014 by 888Scoreonline

Moving in line to his earlier promises, Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is not stopping signing new players to add more options into every segment of the field. Accordingly, he signed Porto defender 23-year-old Eliaquim Mangala at somewhere around 32 million pounds which is understandably way too exaggerated considering his form and skills. Tenure of the current deal as reported by some media houses is five years with a special clause that obliges the club to pay more if Mangala performs well in upcoming English premier league. Notwithstanding what is being said about the new City entrant, Pellegrini believes he has all the potentials to become one of the finest defenders across Europe hence his side made no mistake in hiring him for the betterment of Man City. Though, the deal is paper down now, but it had been in process since January, in fact, most the things had already been finalized except the salary which is lastly agreed after a long discussion between top officials of the both the sides.

Mangala was in the France national team played in the world cup but could not play any match in Brazil. With latest addition, Pellegrini has brought six new players to the City of Manchester which is way too aggressive considering their league defenders tag. Normally, a side of City caliber is not supposed to make thorough changes in the side, but surprisingly, Chilean manager is still hungry for more to repeat their successful 2013-14 season. Talking about new signee, 60-year-old former Real Madrid boss said, “He has all of the mental, physical, technical and tactical attributes to become one of Europe’s very best defenders.

“Eliaquim is a player I believe will make an immediate impact in the Premier League, thanks to his physicality, his reading of the game and quality on the ball. I think he will prove to be a great signing for us.”

Similarly, Mangala also reacted over his association with his dream club and said, “City is a top club in Europe. For me, it was an important step to leave Porto and join Manchester City in order to continue my progress. I want to win titles and I believe I can do this. I am ambitious and this is why I am here.”

“I think I need a little bit of time to be 100%. I went on a run every day and trained in the gym. Holidays are great but if the time is too long it is difficult to come back,” he added about upcoming league matches.
