Manchester United is among the most popular soccer clubs amid global soccer fans and that is why it is right on target to encash each of its fan based regions. China is also one of the most sports loving nations, perhaps China occupy more than 300 million United fans, hence two biggest Chinese business corporate groups have now entered into a sponsorship deal with EPL club. These two business ventures are: China Construction Bank (CCB) and soft drinks manufacturer Wahaha. For now, the deal is said to be for a three year term, but it can be extended if the outcomes are in favor of all the parties involved. As par the deal, CCB will have the rights to produce Manchester United branded banking cards and offer them to its 102 million banking customers. These cards will have several reward schemes to lure customers to sign for a United based reward scheme.
Similarly, the deal is for an equal number of years for soft drink manufacturer who is the first soft drink partner for the club in China. Notably, United play almost eight friendlier with various Chinese clubs every year; hence with these sponsorship deals, there friendlier are also supposed to increases to encash the outcomes for new sponsors. Zong Qinghou, the owner of soft drink company Wahaha and also the richest Chinese announced his partnership with the soccer club at the opening ceremony of Qian Jiang – The New Wahaha European boutique hall. He said, “The partnership between China’s largest beverage company and the world’s top English football club is an inspiring and huge development for Wahaha. This year is a milestone year for the company.”
While, Manchester United’s commercial director, Richard Arnold said, “Wahaha is one of the most iconic brands in China … what better way to endorse this modern-day success story than to partner with the number one club in the world’s biggest sport.” However, the deal price is not disclosed by anyone, everybody believes it to be in line with United’s recent sponsorship deals with some of the biggest Asian corporate giants. Moreover, its stock also surged by more than 5% as the news came into the media.
