ManU, seven points away from EPL title

April 15, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

Manchester United FC

There is no doubt with the fact that Manchester United has performed brilliantly this season and that is why they have been on the top of the leaderboard most of the time this season. Now, when EPL is reaching its conclusion, ManU is still enjoying its supremacy over other teams with a comfortable lead from its closest club and arch rival Manchester City who is almost 15 points away to replace United on the top. Yesterday, United won another match to enhance its lead when they defeated Stroke with 2-0, and more importantly, it was Robin van Persie who ended his drought by finding the net at last. Actually, Netherlands striker could not score even a single goal in his last ten matches, but Sunday was his day and he perfectly capitalized his 66th minute penalty and fired a goal. – his 20th in the league. Another reason for joy for United is the fact that they are the closest to clinch the title from their arch rival City, perhaps they only need seven more points to take the title home out of six remaining matches, which looks to be an easy task considering their form in last few matches where they won without conceiving any goal.

However, their closest rival, Manchester City, can also retain its trophy, but if it could win all of its remaining matches, which is going to be very tough if not impossible. Last week, United manager Alex Ferguson found clashing with two notable soccer personalities for various reasons. He almost fought with City manager over his remarks that United is only winning coz other teams play with a fear, Alex condemned his remarks and said, they are winning coz they are better and other teams are showing no hunger to defeat them. Similarly, Alex also said recently that international friendlies are just a waste of time coz many of their big players get injured during these nonsense matches and clubs have to suffer players’ mounting cost without any result. Anyways, now he can sit and relax to see his team gearing up to grasp the title this season.

In another development, Alex is eyeing on Atletico striker Radamel Falcao during coming summer transfer window. He is likely to offer £47m mega deal to the striker, and if humors are to be believed, other clubs who are interesting in the striker are Manchester City and Chelsea. But there is no catch if Alex’s soccer brain comes into the play. Let’s see how things develop in coming weeks.
