Mario Balotelli threatens to walk off if racially abused ever again

May 16, 2013 by 888Scoreonline

Former Manchester City striker, 22-year-old, Mario Balotelli finally comes into the news after missing the headlines for more than weeks, but this time, he has done something which is not completely wrong. Actually, three AC Milan’s players were subjected to racial chanting in the last match between AC Milan and Roma on Sunday and that chanting continued even after an official appeal, perhaps match had to be stopped for two minutes to tackle the situation. Mario Balotelli was the one of three Milan players who were the targets of that racial abuse, and now the striker has come forward against these incidents and warned the fans to walk off the field if he is ever subjected to a racial chant again.

He told in a statement that “If it happens one more time, I’m going to leave the pitch, because it’s so stupid. I was about to leave, but they will think I wanted to leave because we had difficulty with the game.” The Serie A fixture gained much media attention especially after his warning to boycott a game coz a similar incident has already happened recently which was widely criticized for players’ behavior to leave the game. This time, Italian Football association took the immediate course of action and fined Roma 50,000 euros for intolerable behavior of their fans and also promised to take the issue further to ensure noting like this ever happened again, though their penalty was later condemned by FIFA president for not giving Roma an opportunity to be heard.

Balotelli has been performing quite consistently for AC Milan ever since he made a shift from City; perhaps he has scored 11 goals in 12 played games for his home club hence he is in descent form to prove his point he was fighting for at the City. He said in an interview given to CNN that “I always said if it happens in the stadium, I would just behave as if nobody had done anything and that I don’t care, but now I think I’ve changed my mind a bit.”

During the interview, he also talked about his former club City and said, “I am not really surprised but when I was with him he was a great manager and we had one of the best teams I have played with, the best players. I don’t know why they didn’t win. But obviously there were some problems inside. I am here so I don’t know.” So, he was trying to point his fingers on Mancini and justify his sacking.
